What will people in a thousand years call our generation?
We have the Romans, the Vikings, the tudors, the stuarts, the Victorians.

Answer

This is a great question.brbrA thousand years is a long time. In a thousand years, you tend to think of periods and ages, as opposed to a specific generation. That may be a little abstract for an eight year old, but you get the idea.brbrWhat I think our generation will be thought of a thousand years from now is the generation that first left the Earth to explore the universe. If you think about the single most important event of our time my time being a bit before yours, to be sure, but think of the period that people will look back on ten centuries hence, I think it will be the landing on the moon. brbrJust as the period of Columbus is called the age of exploration, I think this period is the time where man took his first step to the stars. brbrThe wars and other terrible things will not define our legacy. Terrible wars have gone on for all of history. It would be a blessing on our time if we could be the generation that abolished warfare from the planet. But I do not think that we are anywhere close to accomplishing that.brbrFor me, it is the first step towards the stars. And I think it is a legacy we should all be proud of.
